Imagine If: Cinematic Superhero Movies

Imagine if Hollywood had released tent-pole comic-book movies starring their iconic characters around the time of the source material’s release date. For the purposes of this experiment, we will say that a movie would be released 5 years after the introduction of the character, and only movies that have been made would be made.

How would Hollywood and fandom have looked if movies had been released on this schedule? Unlike Hollywood, we made an active effort to not re-use actors for different roles.

Wow or Woe, Comic Release Date 12/27

Brian_Michael_Bendis_(Earth-1610)_001Jessica Jones #15

BMBendis recently had some very serious health scares.

I hope that he is truly on the mend.

I have read some artciles speculating on why he is leaving Marvel.

I also read that Superman might be one of his DC Books. If ever there was a character I cared less about, BUT, because of that, I am excited!

I am excited for all of it.

My theory on why BMB is leaving Marvel: Axel.

If one looks at when Axel took over, it is when BMB had a shift in the books he was writing, books I enjoyed to some degree, but not as much as the stuff he doing before. The events that came out of marvel also started not being as good, IMHO.

I do not consider this a coincidence.

I love many Marvel characters far more than the Distinguished Competition, but people can change.

This issue of Jessica Jones. WOW!

It zigged, it zagged, it made me want to see one thing, it made me ask some questions, and then it shifted course.

Part of me would like it if JJones ends. I am not sure other writers will do her justice.

Crossover Catalog, Silent War

Crossover Catalog seeks to examine crossover events of the big two, grading them on their Idea, Permanence, Execution, and Continuity. The IPEC scale and subsequent score will be recorded.

Silent_War_Vol_1_2Marvel’s desire for a love affair with the Inhumans and attempts to incorporate them into the greater consciousness goes back a long way. Silent War was a big part of this. The premise is simple enough, the Inhumans, pissed that America is messing with the Terrigen Mists, attack America.

IDEA- I like the core of the idea. 4/5

PERMANENCE- Some stuff happened. 3/5

EXECUTION- The art and writing were not great. 2/5

CONTINUITY- So. Many. Missteps. If America was attacked, you might think there would be some ripples felt in other comics. You would be wrong. 0/5

OVERALL: 9/20, 45%. Avoid this one.

Bring That Holiday Beat Back

A holiday mashup playlist!

There’s a world outside your window

It’s a world of dread and fear

Used to be friends but now we’re foes

Ask me why, man, no one knows

This mess we in,

They don’t ever really talk about it

But tonight, you are my friend,

I never knew it ’til then

You hold my hand,

You might not say a word

But I see your tears when I show my pain

Though the world is flawed

These scars will heal

We are one, tonight!

Peace and Love to All!
